This “impressive newcomer to the usually disappointing Dulwich food scene” arrived with a top pedigree for “high-class, high-taste” Indian cuisine under chef Dayashankar Sharma, a veteran of Tamarind, Zaika and Grand Trunk Road. The Guardian’s Grace Dent was an early champion – “by rights it should become a south London classic” – but ratings are capped by one or two locals who feel it’s “OK but not worth the hype”.

This former coaching inn in West Dulwich is “a good pub for family gatherings”, with its consistently well-rated food, “relaxed good service” and generous sense of space, both inside and in the garden and play area.

After running very successful pop-ups all over South London, the Indian-inspired, plant-based pub concept became permanent, taking over the kitchen at The Railway Tavern in Tulse Hill from August 2023.
